During the period when F. Taran-Honcharenko oversaw VUCVK News, the Ukrainian press underwent a total transformation towards communist ideology. The author postulates that there is a strong connection between the history of the Soviet authorities’ extermination of the Ukrainian Borotbists and the archival-criminal case of Taran-Goncharenko. The arrested person’s circle of friends and his correspondence with P. Lyubchenko, O. Shum- sky, and A. Hvylia confirmed this. The criminal case of F. Taran-Honcha- renko was included in a series of cases concerning the communist regime’s liquidation of the remaining members of the Ukrainian Party of Borotbists. On December 24, 1937, Ph. Taran-Honcharenko was shot «as a member of a Ukrainian terrorist organization». Most likely, he is interred in the Bykivnyan woodland.
