Volume 1 of Mykola Teodorovych's 'Historical and statistical description of the churches and parishes of the Volhynian diocese' (Pochaiv, 1888): reprinted from the Volynskie eparkhialnye vedomosti of 1887–1888; it opens with a sketch of the history of Volhynia, then the Zhytomyr, Novohrad-Volynskyi and Ovruch districts. By deanery it describes every town, small town and village with a church — location and distances, history of the settlement and its owners, history of the church and its records (from which year the metrical books survive), land and clergy income, number of parishioners, attached villages and the priests and psalmists by name with years of service. A key source for Volhynian parish history and for clergy ancestors.
